Launch of New UK-Based LatAm Chamber

British companies looking to export to Latin America have just received a big boost. A new organisation - the Council of Ibero American Chambers - has been set up to help UK plc succeed in the region.

A new business network looks set to help British-based companies build business in Spain and Latin America.  The Council of Ibero American Chambers (CIAC), is an independent business to business (B2B) network of UK based chambers with unrivalled expertise and contacts in Latin America and Spain.

So far members include: The British Argentine Chamber of Commerce; The British & Colombian Chamber of Commerce; The Caribbean Britain Business Council; The Mexican Chamber of Commerce - GB; the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain; The Cuba Initiative and The Central American Business Council.

The wide range of partners means that CIAC represents a core membership of the Spanish & Latin American bilateral chambers, with more than 600 businesses based across Latin America, Spain and the United Kingdom. The objective of the CIAC is to stimulate trade, investment and multilateral cooperation between the UK, Spain and Latin America, says Ms. Tania Hoyos, Executive Director of the British & Colombian Chamber of Commerce in London, and current holders of the CIAC presidency. "Through our work with other bilateral chambers and partners, we will be able to link each of our members companies to a much larger business network in the countries of interest and provide a platform for channelling messages to and from Latin America, Spain and the UK."

Member companies of the chambers that currently belong to the CIAC will be able to learn more about Council in the first CIAC networking reception, which will take place on Wednesday 19th March at the The Mayfair Hotel in London.
